Insanely Successful Kingdom Rush Tower Defense Game Arrives on Linux
One of the most famous tower defense games out there lands on Steam for Linux
Kingdom Rush, a tower defense title developed and published by Ironhide Game Studio, has finally arrived on Steam for Linux. The immensely successful Kingdom Rush tower defense game has been available on the Windows and Mac OS platforms for a couple of months now, but the developers from Ironhide Game Studio managed to port the game fast and now the Linux fans can also enjoy it.
Surprisingly enough, the rise to stardom of Kingdom Rush had nothing to do with the PC or Mac OS platform. It started as a simple game, in Flash, for tablets, but it became one of the best-known tower defense titles on the market.
The announcement for the Linux platform wasn't anything extraordinary, but it was the developers’ way of showing their commitment for the open source operating system.
“Kingdom Rush is available for Linux in all its full 1080 HD glory! So what are you waiting for? Get it now and start smashing some goblin heads in your Linux rig! Tested and fully working on Ubuntu 13.04 and Linux Mint 16,” reads the announcement from Ironhide Game Studio.
The system requirements for Kingdom Rush have been posted and they are so low that very few users won't be able to play it: a dual-core CPU, 1 GB of RAM, and an OpenGL 3.0 compliant video card with 512MB of video RAM.
