The inquest into the death of Anna Nicole Smith's son Daniel finally kicked off last week, after being postponed several times, mainly because of Anna's former (evil) lawyer, Howard K. Stern messing things up and showing himself determined to throw as many obstacles as possible in path of the investigation. All in all, it took over a year for the inquest to actually begin, and up to now there were no ground-breaking revelations made. There are, however, a series of small details that don't seem to add up and may actually lead the investigation into an interesting direction.
For those of you who don't remember the circumstances of Daniel's death, Anna Nicole's 20 year-old son collapsed while he was visiting his mother in a hospital in the Bahamas, days after she had just given birth to her daughter, Dannielyn. Young Daniel's tragic death was reportedly caused by a deadly combination of two anti-depressants (Zoloft and Lexapro) and a drug, methadone. However, the circumstances of his death remain unclear, and - as I was saying earlier - the inquest has revealed the existence of certain small bits and pieces that still haven't been cleared up and which could actually point to something much more sinister.
The first such detail is that before he died, Daniel seemed fine to all the hospital personnel who came across him - the only unusual thing being that Daniel was found asleep with Anna Nicole in her bed. "On the second day of an inquest into the Sept. 10, 2006, death of Daniel Smith, nursing assistant Francis Woodside said the young man was sleeping in the same bed as his mother, while her attorney and partner Howard K. Stern slept in the other, about 3 hours and 40 minutes before a hospital-wide alarm that he had been found unconscious", reports Associated Press. "We don't usually have that happen, patients sleeping in the bed with relatives", Woodside is quoted as having stated.
Another small detail is that some pills which were allegedly accidentally dropped by Howard K Stern himself. Associated Press reports that "nurse Nadine Carey testified Tuesday that she found two round tablets on the bed that hospital employees previously said was occupied by Stern. She did not say what kind of pills they were, only that they were turned over to senior nursing staff". Hmm. I wonder what those pills could have been. And although I have serious doubts that any of us will ever know for sure how Daniel's death came about, I'm still hoping for a miracle. Like a confession from either Larry Birkhead or Howard Stern himself. Or something even more dramatic - although I have no idea what that something could be.
