Greenheads who are big fans of renewables will surely like this jump rope developed by the folks at Uncharted Play. The jump rope harvests whatever kinetic energy is produced when kids – maybe even adults – play, and stores it.

The green energy generated in this fun way can then be used to charge phones and other gadgets that your average Joe and Jane have lying around their home.

“The PULSE harnesses kinetic energy from play and converts it into electrical energy that can be used to power small appliances,” Uncharted Play says, as cited by Tree Hugger.

“Using the adaptor that comes with each PULSE, minutes of play can provide hours of power, and even charge your cell phone!” it adds.

Presently, the company only has 100 such eco-friendly jump ropes for sale. Each costs $129 (€93.73), and can be bought on the official website for Uncharted Play.

The company says that it is now working on lowering the cost of its PULSE jump rope to such an extent that people living in poor countries around the world will also be able to afford one.
