Apparently, the standard screen sizes are too dull, and the others too large

Television sets have always had a wider range of screen sizes, but even that variety can become stilted after a while, especially when all that everyone focuses is extremes of size and price. Innolux is trying to find some middle ground.

Said middle ground comes in the shape of 39.5-inch TV panels. Production of such things will start in about a week or so (mid-October 2013).

There should be 30,000 units made in November alone, then 500,000 in December. Clearly, Innolux expects lots of demand.

Maybe it's got a reason to too. After all, despite all the hype about 50+ inch HDTVs and UHD TVs, those things are still too large for anyone on the sub-high-end market. So a 39.5-inch panel might be just what the doctor ordered if you're a family person.
