One prisoner is probably very unpopular right now, after foiling a jail escape attempt and staying back to help police.
Joshua Silverman called 911 on Tuesday, describing a two-person escape attempt. He was in a van in Oklahoma, where the contractor had stopped to deliver inmates to a mental health hospital.
Eight people were left behind during the transfer and one broke through a side of the van, made it to the driver's seat and took off with the vehicle.
According to KFOR, two people escaped after driving for a mile (1.6 km), but, thanks to Silverman, they have been apprehended.
"Uh, yes, ma'am, you're probably not going to believe this, but I'm a prisoner in a van, and I'm here with a couple of these other cats. [...] A couple of the guys that were in the van jacked the van ... at the hospital," he tells the operator.
His 911 call is featured in the news report above.
