It's not clear why the team has chosen to delay the launch

The development team at NetherRealm and publisher Warner Bros. are announcing that they are planning to launch downloadable content for their fighting game Injustice: Gods Among Us on the Nintendo-made Wii U at some point it the summer.

The official Twitter account of the game states, “We expect DLC for the Wii U version of Injustice: Gods Among Us to be available this summer. Stay tuned for more details.”

At the moment, characters confirmed as coming to the game include Lobo, which is already available on the PlayStation 3 from Sony and the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, and Batgirl, which should be offered in the coming weeks.

NetherRealms will announce more DLC in the coming months and rumors inside the fighting game community suggest that Scorpion from the Mortal Kombat universe might also arrive in Injustice.
