Circus company Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey is getting ready for its first show in Fresno. PETA is not exactly thrilled about the idea, and is doing its best to convince people not to go see the performance.

This July 4, at 2 p.m. local time, a man dressed as an injured animal started pacing back and forth on the streets of Fresco.

He confronted potential circus goers and demanded that they do not support animal abuse by going to see circus performances.

"Fresno residents would run screaming from the big top if they knew how baby elephants are violently forced to perform difficult, confusing, and sometimes painful tricks.

“Since children love animals, the last place that parents and grandparents should take them to is the circus,” PETA member Delcianna Winders says in a statement.

The “injured elephant” was accompanied by PETA members holding up banners that displayed photos of animals abuse. “This Is Ringling Baby-Elephant Training,” the banners read.
