Developer Epic Games announces that development of Infinity Blade: Dungeons is currently on hold and that the team working on it is disbanded.

Tim Sweeney, the founder of Epic Games, says in a statement that, “When former members of Big Huge Games approached Epic last year, we saw the opportunity to help a great group of people while putting them to work on a project that needed a team. It was a bold initiative and the Impossible folks made a gallant effort, but ultimately it wasn’t working out for Epic.”

Infinity Blade was very successful for Epic Games on a range of mobile devices and the Dungeons entry in the series was supposed to push the entire genre forward.

Former Big Huge Games employees will be able to form a new studio that keeps the Impossible name and the logo.
