Turbine's DC Comics-based multiplayer battle arena game will launch its open beta test on Friday, March 14, inviting players all around the world to take the famous superheroes for a spin.

Infinite Crisis has been in closed beta for the better part of a year, and now the development team feels confident enough to release their creation to the public.

Being based on the popular DC Comics Multiverse, the game already has a head-start over franchises who were built from the ground up, but the MOBA arena has some fierce competition waiting for Turbine's creation.

Superman, Batman, Joker, Bane, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern and many, many more are popular characters that have been a staple of pop culture long before the advent of the digital era, and have been companions of many gamers' childhoods.

The announcement for the upcoming start of the beta period is also accompanied by the reveal of Mecha Superman, joining the ranks just in time for players to test him out.

The introductory video shows the mechanized hero in action, using his trusty drill to dish out massive damage and his powerful crowd control abilities to peel enemies off allies or trap them to secure the kill.

Mecha Superman is a fusion of Krypton and Earth technology, an enhanced agro-bot that a child tried to teach what it means to be human.

Two more heroes will also show up for the first time once the beta goes live, the dexterous Green Arrow who took up the hood and bow in the name of justice, after being stranded on a remote island he fundamentally changed who he was, and Aquaman, the King of Atlantis, a melee bruiser adept at soloing and poking.

The total number of heroes available at launch will consequently rise to 27, also featuring 15 available costumes, with an additional character scheduled to be added to the roster once every three weeks, and a new costume each week.

The developers have been receiving feedback from pro teams in order to make sure that the game is fun, and 27 characters certainly seem enough to offer a diverse and balance choice of characters for teams on both sides.

Warner Bros and Turbine have scheduled the full launch of Infinite Crisis for later in the year, but a more specific date has not yet been revealed. This will be Turbine's first original game as well as the first non-MMORPG developed since the company was acquired by WB.
