After quite a few rumors, Turbine and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have revealed the free-to-play Infinite Crisis, a MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) game that's set within the DC Comics universe and allows players to take control of different variations of heroes and villains.

Warner Bros. wants to take advantage of its DC Comics universe and is getting ready to release not just the Injustice: Gods Among Us fighting game or the third Batman Arkham title, but it's also just revealed Infinite Crisis, an all-new experience.

The game, developed by Lord of the Rings Online studio Turbine, is a MOBA title, similar to Dota 2 or League of Legends. As opposed to those fantasy experiences, however, Infinite Crisis lets players control different heroes and villains from the DC Comics universe, including all sorts of variations, like Gaslight Batman or Nightmare Batman.

"Infinite Crisis is a new entrant into the wildly popular MOBA genre that delivers a heart-pounding competitive player vs. player battle experience set in the legendary DC Multiverse - a world in which familiar DC Comics characters have been reimagined in startling ways," the company said on the game's website.

"Featuring a wide variety of DC Comics heroes and villains, Infinite Crisis puts players in control of twisted incarnations of their favorite characters throughout the Multiverse such as Nightmare Batman and Gaslight Catwoman, playing in league with well-known characters including Green Lantern and The Flash."

Players interested in the new MOBA experience can already sign up for the beta stage on the game's website. After completing a short questionnaire, they'll be entered into the title's database and should receive invitations when the actual beta test begins later this year.

Infinite Crisis is set to be released as a free-to-play experience on the PC in 2013.
