Nokia announced earlier today the immediate availability of the Asha 308 dual-SIM feature-phone in India. The handset can be purchased for only Rs 5685 (105 USD or 80 EUR) via Nokia Online store.

However, Indian retailer Infibeam announces the Asha 308 is now available for purchase for Rs 5799 (110 USD or 85 EUR) outright. There is a slight price difference between the two offers, but nothing major.

Affordability aside, Nokia Asha 308 comes with dual-SIM capability, which allows users to switch multiple SIMs without having to remove the battery or turn off the phone. This is possible thanks to Nokia’s new technology called Easy Swap.

Nokia Asha series has seen tremendous success in India, which is why the Finnish company decided to launch the Asha 308 in this country.

We also expect the company to bring the Asha 309 feature-phone in India as well. The phone has the same features as the Asha 308, but it also offers Wi-Fi connectivity.

With the full touch Nokia Asha 308 that runs the latest version of Series 40 user interface for feature-phones, users will be able to take decent photos and browse the Internet with the new Nokia Xpress Browser.

Although Infibeam mentions the Asha 308 is enabled with WLAN, that’s an obvious mistake, as the phone only offers GPRS and EDGE support.

Furthermore, the phone comes with a decent 3.0-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 240 x 400 pixels resolution and scratch-resistant glass coating.

The 2-megapixel rear camera has a 4 times digital zoom and a 3.6 mm camera focal length. The phone packs 64 MB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32 GB through a microSD card.

It also supports popular IM services like Chat, Yahoo and Google Talk, but more can be installed. Nokia Asha 308 can be purchased from Infibeam here.
