I must admit the Commtouch Malware Outbreak Center is a really amazing technology which is pretty useful if your computer is infected with some malicious code. Let me tell you some hot details about it. First of all, the product is meant to provide information about viruses, malware, Trojan horses and other dangerous files and about the antiviruses that block them. Supposing you're infected with a worm, all you need to do is to go over to the Malware Outbreak Center, enter its name and find out which antivirus blocks it. Moreover, you get all sort of details concerning the name of the threat for certain security tools.

"We see it as a wakeup call to IT managers and also to vendors of e-mail security solutions, that there are still so many viruses and malware out there that are not being stopped by most of the traditional solutions," says Rebecca Herson, vice president of marketing for the Israel-based Commtouch, according to TechWorld.

"It takes some time to gather information about who's blocking it and who isn't. It's not something people can use as a real-time alert. But on the other hand I think it's more valuable this way because it's providing more information about who has caught it by now and who hasn't."

The service receives the information from AV-Test, a famous name when it comes to IT security and to computer infections. "We send a sample to AV-Test ... They run a lab where they have all the most updated AV engines running in parallel. They are the ones who send us all this information about who's catching it and when," Rebecca Herson continued for the same source.

If you want to access the service and find useful details about a certain threat and about the products which are able to discover and block it, you can access the Malware Outbreak Center here.
