Sucker Punch says that First Light's success will determine their next focus

Sucker Punch has mentioned that it plans to make more standalone DLC packs for its action adventure title Infamous: Second Son, like the upcoming First Light, should people find them appealing enough.

The standalone DLC pack Infamous: First Light will be released on August 26, featuring Fetch Walker, another power conduit, one of the side characters from Second Son, making an escape from Curdun Cay, the famed prison for humans with super powers.

According to Game Director Nate Fox, the upcoming DLC might not be the last of its kind, as he mentions during an interview with IGN that if people like First Light, there's a definite possibility that Sucker Punch will make some more episodes.

He also explains that the video game development studio usually works on a single game at a time, which most likely means that once they start on the next game, they'll stop working on Second Son DLC.

Fox also adds that the world that players will be able to explore in First Light is the same setting of Seattle, only a couple of years prior to the events depicted in Infamous: Second Son. The story will follow Fetch as she is forced to relive some tragic moments from her past, and then inflict her vengeance on those who wronged her.

Fox also says that the decision to make First Light was a very easy one, because Fetch, the protagonist, is a very cool and likable character, and the team felt the need to create a compact story "with a beginning, a middle and an end," as well as to take the opportunity to experiment with a new way to use neon powers, in a different manner from how Delsin does it.

The studio informs that the team started working on First Light after taking a little break from Infamous: Second Son, and as such everyone thought it very fun to create the DLC, because everyone already knew how to do everything and all the tools were already set up and ready, and people could just focus on creating new content right from the get-go.

It seems that Infamous: First Light's success will dictate whether or not Sucker Punch will create additional standalone content, so all the fans of the series just need to keep their fingers crossed. Infamous: Second Son came out exclusively for the PS4 earlier this year in March and received widespread praise for its visuals and combat, although being criticized for its repetitive nature.

Infamous: First Light is coming to the PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system from Sony on August 26 in North America, and August 27 in Europe.
