Sucker Punch Productions, the developer of the upcoming Infamous: Second Son PlayStation 4 exclusive title, is quite thankful of Sony's internal production team for making such a powerful console that strikes a great balance between affordable and performance.

Sony's PS4 is selling millions of units worldwide as we speak, and the Japanese company is currently hyping up the next big exclusive for its new console – Infamous: Second Son.

The title, coming from its internal Sucker Punch Productions team, will deliver an open world experience in which players control Delsin Rowe, a super-powered "Conduit" who can manipulate different abilities like smoke or neon, as well as a few undisclosed power sets.

Sucker Punch has already confirmed that the game is taking full advantage of the PS4's power and emphasized on several occasions that it managed to incorporate different new technologies to increase its visual performance.

Now, while talking in the PS blogcast, via DualShockers, one of the studio's developers has confirmed that Sucker Punch had begun working on Second Son before the PS4 even had its hardware specs nailed down but, thanks to the great power, it wasn't a problem at all.

"It was great, because every time a decision was made, it was the right decision. It’s practical too. You can’t just jam everything… It’s not like you can have some liquid nitrogen cooled graphics chip in your thing right?"

"There are practical limits to do what you can do and still have an affordable console, but the hardware design team did a spectacular job of listening to all the game developers, both internal and external and making good decisions. They always were looking at the decisions they were making in terms of 'is this going to let people make great games?' 'Is this going to help people build great games?'"

One particular area that really delighted Sucker Punch was the massive 8GB of GDDR5 memory, as it meant that it didn't have to worry about this aspect of development.

"Having a lot of memory was good, having 8 gigabytes of memory was even better. For the first time ever, and I’ve been doing this for seventeen years, we didn’t have to worry about memory when we were building the game."

Infamous: Second Son is set to launch later this week, on March 21, exclusively for the PlayStation 4. You can bet that more details about the new title are coming in the following days.
