Infamous: Second Son benefitted from its delay, according to developer Sucker Punch Productions, as the whole team managed to cram in more content and make the title they imagined from the beginning.

Infamous: Second Son was one of the first games to be presented alongside the Sony PlayStation 4 back in February of 2013. Back then, the title was immediately given a launch day release date, meaning it was set to debut alongside the new console in November of last year.

That didn't happen, as Sucker Punch was forced to delay the new title until it was ready for a stellar debut on the new platform.

According to Sucker Punch co-founder Chris Zimmerman, who talked with Destructoid via DualShockers, Sony was extremely supportive of the decision to push back the release of the title, realizing that extra time was needed to really impress PS4 users.

"Sony is great. We love being part of 'Team Sony' and I think the biggest reason that it’s great is that the company is just about the games, right? They want quality."

"When we first started, we thought of it as a launch game, not a launch window game, and the reason it’s a launch game coming out now and not in November was that we weren’t ready. It wasn’t going to be as great as it needed to be at launch. We needed a little bit more time. And Sony’s like 'Yeah, of course, no question, do that.'" Zimmerman said.

Sucker Punch, which recently became an internal studio owned by Sony, received plenty of resources in order to properly make the game and to deliver an impressive experience.

"They were like: 'Make a great game.' That’s what we’re trying to do. We’re trying to create great experiences for people and make a great game. So we had the time to go in and make it better. And it got a lot better in those 4 months. It’s where we wanted it to be. It’s the game we saw in our heads."

Infamous: Second Son has received quite a lot of different screenshots and gameplay videos in recent months, emphasizing just how gorgeous the whole experience is and how much fun players will have by controlling super-powered protagonist Delsin Rowe and by making some tough moral choices that end up affecting the character.

The new game will make its global debut on March 21 exclusively for Sony's PlayStation 4 console.
