The freshly created development studio called Perihelion Interactive, comprising numerous creative minds from Funcom's most beloved MMOs to Ubisoft's Assassins Creed, announced its six-player cooperative space RPG called “The Mandate.”

The player will experience a completely different Tsarist Russia, one that is from a far, dystopian future where bureaucracy rules with an iron hammer.

The story of the game is set in a world ripped apart by 1500 years of war where you and up to five other players will have the chance to delve into the dark edges of space.

Apart from this space exploration, the game also focuses on human analysis, on the connection established between a captain and his ship, the crew and the officers.

Therefore, the gamer can notice that the relationships between the members of the ship will effect battle situations.

Of all the dangers the player may encounter, we can mention having its officers vented out through the side of the ship, while having the ship endure irreparable damage is beautifully rendered in DirectX11 on the Unity Engine for PC. The developers also promise a release for Mac and Linux.

What makes it stand out as an RPG is the drama based on the crew members’ emotions. The founder of Perihelion Interactive Ole Herbjornsen stated that their inspiration came from popular TV shows and favorite movies like Battlestar Galactica, Firelfy or Start Trek, where one can notice how the rivalries, the hopes and fears of the crew make the core of the entire production.

Besides this, “The Mandate” embodies the best features of some of the most adored and tactically rich strategy and RPG names, therefore creating a unique gaming experience.

Players are for the first time given the opportunity to orchestrate numerous boarding operations isometrically in the vein of X-Com and Jagged Alliance.

At the same time, your friends are there to help you in real time, from their own ships, boarding if you are in need of assistance and vice versa.

As the captain of the ship, the player must face difficult tasks and undertake various quests so that he may gain as much control as possible.

Being inspired by many European and Global cultures, the RPG makes it possible to create allegiances with one of the infinite factions in the game. Star Bases can also be built, as well as fortifying your assets and even trading.

Although the Kickstarter campaign launches on October 3, Perihelion Interactive has already prepared the game themes.

Players will be happy to know that they have recorded under a live orchestra, with a multi-lingual voice over, being available in Russian, English and Spanish. Their pledged goal is that of $500,000 (€369,768) till the December 2.

The veterans team promised a “Fairness Directive,” this being a set of rules that will be followed by their PR and marketing teams in order to have a precise and direct flow of information between you and the developers.

The Fairness Directive mentions rewards, being able to access exclusive content that the developers consider real value money. They represent a thank you for the support and feedback received.

Some examples are the Season Pass (access to the first expansion pack and content updates), and also early access to builds of the game (pre-alpha).

By browsing the tier pledge rewards, the gamer has the possibility to actually leave his mark on the universe of “the Mandate.”

A trailer is available for gamers interested in taking a peek at the new RPG “The Mandate.” Another good news is that the developers have announced that a character creator, or “life-path” demo is on the way, as well as a ship design and combat simulator. The last two will be sent out during the Kickstarter campaign.
