The hacktivists have switched to targeting government websites

Indonesian hackers have launched a distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attack against the official website of the Australian Security Intelligence Organization (ASIO). The cyberattack caused the website to go offline for only 2-3 minutes.

The impact of the attack on ASIO’s website is close to none. However, the fact that Indonesians targeted an Australian government website means that they’ve taken the advice of Anonymous Australia.

Earlier this week, Indonesian hacktivists defaced the websites of hundreds of Australian organizations in protest against Australia’s spying activities on Indonesia.

The targeted sites don't have anything to do with the Australian government – they belong to small businesses and even charities. That’s why Anonymous Australia has sent a message to Indonesian hacktivists, urging them to join forces with them for OpAustralia and target government systems.

While it’s clear that Indonesian hackers have taken their advice, Lee J of Cyber War News says they haven’t reached an agreement regarding a permanent collaboration for OpAustralia.
