The protests over Australia spying on Indonesia continue

Indonesian hackers haven’t forgotten that Australia has spied on Indonesia, so they continue to target Australian government websites. The latest target is the official website of the New South Wales Government (nsw.gov.au).

According to HackRead, members of a group called Gantengers Crew have managed to breach the nsw.gov.au subdomains used by several local councils. A total of 28 subdomains have been impacted.

The hackers have somehow managed to upload their own articles to the websites. Users who accessed the URLs that pointed to these articles were presented with the hacktivists’ message.

The articles could not be accessed directly from the council sites, but only by clicking on links published by the Gantengers Crew.

At the time of writing, the articles uploaded by the attackers have been removed by the sites’ administrators. It’s uncertain if they’ve patched the vulnerability leveraged by the Indonesian hackers.
