The similarities between this video and the band’s “You Are the One” are too many to be just a coincidence

A couple of days ago, Ariana Grande unveiled a new music video, for the single “One Last Time.” The vid focuses on a young couple in love but fighting over something, as chaos is starting to take over the world because of a comet approaching.

If the story rings a bell, it’s because it’s been done before - and as recently as September 2014, when indie band SAFIA released the music video for “You Are the One.”

According to many voices online and to the guys in SAFIA too, the similarities between the two videos are too many and too flagrant to be just a coincidence, which can only mean one thing: either Ariana or someone from her camp, be it her management or the director they hired for the music video, stole their idea.

In fact, the bandmembers say on their Facebook, they’re positive this is what happened, and they accuse Grande and her people of “rework[ing] the concept a little bit and then straight up [stealing] and [copying] some bits...(ESPECIALLY THE END!).”

Because they did this, because they stole from “small independent creative who are trying really hard to make something different from a change,” Ariana and her team are nothing but “uncreative talentless [expletive]s.”

However, the independent musicians don’t say a word as regards possible plans of pursuing the matter in court and / or seeking compensation for having their idea stolen in such a shameless manner.

You can find both videos embedded below: it’s true that they seem to share the same concept and even the pink / purplish theme, but can we speak of theft / ripping off another artist? Drop me a line in the comments with your thoughts on this.
