Bank site restored!

I'm sure you're familiar with the fact that the site belonging to the Bank of India has recently been hacked and infected with a lot of malware. It has been said by Sunbelt experts that the Russian Business Network is behind all this. In any case, the attacks have ceased, the page has been "repaired" and is now back up virus-free. So, it is now safe to navigate there...

The site was taken down on Friday, as the bank's IT department could not contain the threat. As soon as they tried to fix the problem, the hackers would cause it again. It all revolved around the "index" file. For those of you that may not know this, such a file is very important for any website. It's a HTML file that basically opens up the page. When you connect to a certain URL, you are first directed to the Index.html file that will tell your machine what to load and from where to get it. So, if someone hacks this file, imagine what malware it could make your browser download!

Also, since the site has been put back online, the bank has also changed host to well-protected servers hosted and monitored within the bank by Hewlett-Packard Co, as I've seen on Yahoo! News. The good thing is that the bank's online services came out unscarred out of the whole deal. Sure, people that navigated the site while it was up and infected got some viruses, if they were not protected, but other than that and what I've already said, there wasn't any other damage.

So, I think that this crisis is over - they were hacked, but now they're back online on a better host and already, the identity of the hackers has been suggested by Sunbelt to be the infamous RBN, so I guess this is about it.
