Indy returns for a heart-stopping new adventure in Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb! It's 1930s China, and Indiana Jones has been hired to recover one of the most powerful artifacts known to man before it falls into hostile hands. Join Indy in an epic, globe-spanning race that puts him against the Nazis and the Asian underworld in a harrowing quest for the mysterious "Heart of the Dragon." For archaeologist Indiana Jones, field work always seems to become a contest for survival. But, fear not, whip-crackers. We've assembled a few tips that will set you on the path to fortune and glory. When you’re hunting down the "Heart of the Dragon" in the Asian underworld, these cheats should come in very handy.
Invincible At the start screen, press and hold left trigger + right trigger. Then, press up, up, down, up, A, X, A, B, up, down, Y, and Start.
Avoid Falling Damage Press the right trigger before you hit the ground to enter combat mode. Then, you won’t get any damage from falling.
Gun Whip/Attack Press the X button to pistol-whip your adversary.
Skip All Poachers at the Beginning of the Game In the level where you start out in a room enclosed by a vine door, cut the door and walk forward. It should start a short intermission sequence of Indy running towards a little window. Skip through it, and when it’s over, select the whip and jump. While you’re in the air, press A. If done correctly, you should now be swinging above a courtyard. Swing to the other side and continue the mission.
Collect Artifacts Once you collect all the artifacts (there are 30), you'll get a Gallery option in the main menu.
Drink from the Canteen, Not Just Sip To drink from the canteen, hold A. If you just tap A, it will take longer. Holding A also helps when you fill your canteen faster.
Tools of the Trade: An Incomplete Weapons Guide
Bullwhip Indy's never
defenseless as long as he's got his favorite archaeological tool. The bullwhip can stun several enemies at once, swing you into hard-to-reach places, disarm an opponent, or pull them in for a punch.
Machete, Turkish Knife, Sword, Etc. Pirates and other baddies often attack with edged weapons that you can steal after knocking them out of enemy hands. They're more effective than fists or ranged weapons when you're up close and personal.
Revolver Indy's Webley guarantees a two-hit kill, but it's also the loudest of the pistols. Only use it when you're not worried about being spotted.
Luger This silenced German pistol—weapon of choice for Nazis in black—lets you whack bad guys while staying stealthy. However, a kill takes four bullets.
Mauser The standard sidearm of the German soldier, this gun can take out an enemy with four shots. It is about half as loud as the Webley.
Machine Gun (MP-40 SMG) The Machine Gun is an indiscriminate weapon that's helpful in crowds. As soon as one enemy goes down, hit the R trigger to target the next and fire. Repeat as needed.
Spear Gun and Super Spear Gun These are the primary ranged weapons when you're underwater (fists are pretty much useless down there). Three Spear Gun shots will take out a great white shark or an underwater Nazi, while the Super Spear Gun holds more ammo and is indispensable when you face the Kraken beneath Istanbul.
Grenade Hold A to charge your throw, and hold the R trigger to target. Just make sure you're clear before it blows.
Demo Charge You can only carry two at once, but sometimes, these heavy explosives are the only way to get where you're going. When you're stuck and can't figure out where to go, look for cracked walls.
Table Legs, Chairs, Metal Bars, Bottles, Skulls, Etc. Furniture, broken furniture, shovels—almost anything that seems like it should be a weapon probably is. Watch for a faint sheen on an object; if it's shiny, you can pick it up and swing it.
Special Weapons At various points in the game, you'll get to use unique weapons. In Prague, for instance, the only way to kill the Nazi Frankenstein is by throwing vials of acid, then picking up an acid-soaked metal bar. Heavy mounted machine guns also come into play frequently; just press Y to take control and then A to blast away.
General Gameplay Hints
Throwing Some of Dr. Jones' most effective two-fisted combos end in a throw. Try to maneuver your foe in front of a wall or ledge. Press A and X together while in close, and season with punches and knee jabs as desired. Then, toss the stooge head first into the bricks for extra damage or over the rail for an instant kill (from a sufficient height).
Bullwhip of Crowd Control When surrounded, leave the ranged weapons holstered, unless you want them knocked to the ground and stolen by your enemies. Instead, break out the whip to stun many foes at once with the alternate whip attack (press X).
Chair of Headbusting Use what you find in a fight—chairs, shovels, really big spears, bottles, what have you—but don't plan on taking them with you. They won't fit in your pack. Some items, like tables, break into smaller pieces that make good clubs in a pinch.
Skull of Distraction Indy can save himself a lot of trouble with a well-tossed skull or bottle. The sounds can distract potent enemies that wouldn't be safe to tackle otherwise. And, if you're spotted, bottles or skulls can give you the first-round knockdown needed to quickly finish a fistfight.
Roll of Survival Well-timed and controlled rolling is essential for getting through the puzzle-like adventure screens. It's also a good way to dodge bullets and get to cover when armed bad guys pop up out of nowhere. Use rolling wisely around ledges, though, or you'll roll to your death.
