Athletes are always celebrating their successes with some form of dances or special moves, some more elaborate than others. For soccer fans, players who do somersaults after scoring a goal have become a common thing.

That's what Indian footballer Peter Biaksangzuala was trying to do when he scored a goal for his team Bethlehem Vengthlang FC, in the 62nd minute of the game against Chanmari West FC. The mid-fielder followed a ball sent from a free kick into the net after a fumble from the opposing team.

Right after the goal was scored, Peter began doing somersaults but his teammates watched in horror as he collapsed on his neck and came tumbling down on the pitch, lifeless. The doctor's reports showed that he died due to a spinal cord injury.

After his death was confirmed, Peter's team, decided to retire the 23-year-old's jersey number, 21, and posted a tribute to the late player on their Facebook account.

This included an account from Biaksangzuala's father, who praised his son for his passion for football, “I wanted my son to serve God since the day he was born. His interest in football was undeniable so I allowed him to pursue his career in the sport that he loved. I feel he did a fine job and through football he somehow managed to speak to the heart of the people concerned.”
