The website of Indian musical instruments manufacturer and exporter Raj Musicals has been hacked by someone going by the name of JokerCracker, CWN informs.

The hacker has leaked a file containing the details of more than 12,000 customers of Raj Musicals, including names, email addresses, telephone numbers and encrypted passwords.

The passwords are encrypted using the weak MD5 algorithm, but at least they’re salted.

On the other hand, this incident poses a lot of risks because a number of 12,000 email addresses, all of them belonging to people clearly interested in musical instruments, make a valuable resource for a targeted attack.

I’ve sent an email to Raj Musicals to see if they’re aware of the breach and if they’ve taken any steps to protect their customers following the incident. I’ll update this post when I hear back from them.
