14 DAY TRIAL // Her name is Gauhar Khan and she is an actor and a model. On Sunday she was on stage presenting a singing show hosted as Film City, Goregaon when she was allegedly slapped by a 24-year-old man from the audience. The local police say that they have detained the suspect, a young man by the name of Akil Malik.
When asked by police why he assaulted the actress, he said that he was angry with her and that he disapproved of her short skirt. “Girls wearing short clothes damage the brains of youngsters” said the attacker to police and that he wanted to “teach her a lesson.”
After three days of watching the actress on stage, the young man assaulted her during a break from the shooting
Malik was a junior artist on the set of “India's Raw Star,” a talent reality show, and he had been working for three days on the production, watching the actress prance around the stage in tiny ensembles before he finally got up on stage during one break and slapped her over the face.
The Hindustan Times says that Malik slapped the actress and also touched her inappropriately in front of 2,500 people in the audience and 250 bouncers. Soon after the attack, he was overpowered and turned over to the police.
The actress left the stage crying, shocked by the attack
The actress was left crying by the attack, but also stunned, as she didn't quite understand what was going on and why she was assaulted. After she was taken away backstage for almost one hour to recover, she reportedly came back to finish the shoot.
The attacker said that he controlled himself for three days, but that, in the end, he couldn't help himself. He did confess that he was attracted to the actress but that he didn't approve of her wardrobe and he felt that it set a bad example to other youngsters who were probably attracted to her as well thanks to her alluring clothes.
Gauahar Khan was outraged after the incident took place and wanted to storm out of the show, but the production team convinced her to finish the shoot for the day, despite her attack.
The attacker was slammed by social media for his smug display of morals. He is quoted to have even said that if actresses were to cover their bodies and stopped wearing revealing outfits, all crime would decrease as a result since young men would no longer be tempted.
