The Foreign Secretary and the Defense Secretary of India met up with their Japanese counterparts at the “2+2” meeting held in Tokyo on Monday. One of the most important decisions taken at the event was to expand collaboration on the cyber security front between the two countries.

According to The Hindu, the officials haven’t made public any details regarding the collaboration, but India hopes that insight offered by a developed country will help them in addressing their domestic cyber security issues.

India is under constant attack by local cybercriminals and ones from abroad, which is why they could really use the information that Japan might be willing to share on how to defend against such threats.

The details of the collaboration will be further discussed on November 5, when the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh meets his Japanese counterpart Yoshihiko Noda.
