Sony's Tablet S took its sweet time reaching beyond the confines of the first regions it was launched in, but reach it did, this time arriving in India.

The Tablet S first arrived in the markets of some countries around the middle of September, 2011.

This was well after the official launch of the product, which happened in August.

As such, since it is past the middle of November, it is obvious that the Tablet S really ran late in actually entering India.

Fortunately, it wasn't too late for the holiday season and there aren't any outstanding lawsuits preventing the item's sale either.

The Sony Tablet S is listed here, at a price of INR 29,990, which is basically the same as $590 and 438 Euro, based on exchange rates.

That sum of money will net a portable electronic with a screen size of 9.4 inches.

The hardware platform is Tegra 2 from NVIDIA, while the operating system is Google's Android 3.2, Honeycomb as it is otherwise known.

Also, 1 GB of RAM (random access memory) backs up the ARM chips and GPU.

Additionally, Sony threw in a 0.3 megapixel webcam on the front and a 5 megapixel camera on the back, plus WiFi and 16 GB of NAND Flash storage space.

The aforementioned price is a bit high, all things considered, even with the screen resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels, support for PlayStation certified games, an infrared blaster and access to E-Books, Videos Unlimited and Music Unlimited services.

After all, no 3G is available and there was no indication of what that version will cost, whenever it shows up. Also, the 32 GB tablets are going to cost even more than this one, which throws some doubt over marketing chances.

Then again, Samsung's Galaxy Tab 8.9, for the sake of comparison, does have 3G but also a higher price (read about it here), so the S is not alone in that.
