The organizers of the Independent Games Festival and Valve are working together in order to give all the finalists of the indie-powered competition a chance to get their title out to a wider audience using the Steam digital distribution service.

Games in all the categories, Seumas McNally Grand Prize, Excellence In Design, Excellence In Art, Excellence In Narrative, Technical Excellence, Excellence in Audio, Nuovo Award, are all eligible.

Working with Steam can allow them to deliver their title on the PC, Mac and Linux and every developer is free to accept or reject the deal from Valve depending on their preference.

Finalists for the Independent Games Festival will be revealed in January 2013 and winners are announced during the Game Developers Conference 2013 in San Francisco during March.

Previous winners include Minecraft, Narbacular Drop, Braid, World of Goo or Super Meat Boy.
