Obviously, it's only a way of luring you on a malicious website

There are a lot of types of email spam, most of them relying on medicines, watches or all kinds of pills. However, some new unsolicited messages appeared a few days ago and, according to Jeremy Gilliat of McAfee Avert Labs Blog, they attempt to offer a product that helps victims save money on gas. Since the gas prices have exploded in the recent period, some readers may be really attracted by such an email and this is exactly what the spammer hopes to get: to bring the readers to the attached malicious website.

The subject of the spam email is "Saves 70c Per Gallon On Gas" and appears to be sent by someone who calls himself "Gas Saver". According to the same source, there are only a few "gas spam messages" out there but their number may grow up in the near future.

"Hello. I'm curious, how are the new gas prices affecting your life these days? Gas is almost $4 per gallon where I live. Save .70c per gallon with this product instantly. It's been on the news, and there are countless videos on YouTube that prove it, including a great piece by Fox. However, surprisingly few people even know about it. Try it now and save big on high gas costs", some scraps of the spam email read.

In order to remain on the safe side, it's enough to ignore the messages, to mark them as spam or to delete them just after they reach the inbox (in case they do that). If you happen to open it, do not visit the attached link!

Also, if you want even more security, you should update the antivirus and the other security products with the latest virus definitions and apply the newest patches the vendor may have released.
