The 2015 will kick off with quite a few PlayStation 4 exclusives. The Order: 1886 is one of the first to be released, followed one month later by From Software's Bloodborne.

Both have potential to become well-established franchises and they are among our most anticipated games of the next year.

What we know

The Order: 1886 has quite an interesting story where the Knights of the Round Table survived through their offspring until 1886 after discovering the Black Water, a mythical substance that allows them to extend their lifetime and provides them with great healing powers.

That is the good thing, but the bad thing is that in an alternate history, the humanity is on the brink of extinction because in the eighth century some humans took on bestial traits. These so-called half breeds managed to get the upper hand in the centuries of conflict due to their animal strength and other abilities.

The Knights of the Round Table is an order that is sworn to protect the humankind against the half breeds, and despite the advantage given to them by the mysterious Black Water, it's not them winning the war.

The salvation seems to come from inventors who are far ahead of their time and mange to come up with technologies that allow the Order to fight better against half breeds.

The world depicted in The Order: 1886 is the perfect steampunk setting for a pen and paper game. It has zeppelins, wireless communications, fragmentation grenades, electricity weapons, and thermal imaging.

The combat system is mostly based on QTEs (quick time events), which has been so popular among console players. Hopefully, developer Ready At Dawn will realize that and make those moments as few as possible during gameplay.

The Order: 1886 is an action game where you will take the role of one of the knights and with the help of the latest weapons invented in that time you must put a stop to half breeds' domination.

The main focus will be on story and considering the game is in development since 2010, we expect it to be no less than great.

Why it matters

Just like Bloodborne, The Order: 1886 is the first game released in a totally new universe with the potential to become a franchise. This is why it's important for the first installment to be well received by console players.

2015 will be an interesting year for PlayStation 4 players, as Sony has quite a few surprises for them. It remains to be seen how many of these surprises will be pleasant.

The Order: 1886 has been confirmed to arrive on PlayStation 4 on February 20, 2015, so we're less than two months away from its launch.
