What we know
Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 is the sequel to the pretty successful first Ghost Warrior, and once again tasks players with becoming a sniper who must engage in all sorts of different operations all over the world.
While in the first Sniper: Ghost Warrior players jumped between different characters and engaged in all sorts of missions, in Ghost Warrior 2 is seems that players will only get to take control of Captain Cole Anderson, who's sent to different
locations all over the world.
Among the places already known are Sarajevo, Burma, or Tibet, each presenting different challenges and experiences for a sniper.
Just like in the first game, players will have to take into account all sorts of things when engaging their enemies, ranging from the wind to the distance or how much a bullet will drop before reaching the target.
Stealth is also crucial, at least judging from recent gameplay videos
, as players will need to be on the move and engage in certain hand-to-hand combat situations.
What's more, the game's developer, City Interactive, has built it using Crytek's impressive CryEngine 3 technology, so you can bet that the visuals will be top notch.
Why it matters
Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 may belong to a niche of the first-person shooter genre but, provided City plays its cards right, it can end up appealing to a much larger audience.
Throw in the gorgeous visuals powered by CryEngine 3 and the varied environments we got to see in different videos and screenshots, and Ghost Warrior 2 might capture the attention of plenty of shooter fans.
Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 is scheduled to appear on March 12 for the PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii U and PlayStation Vita.
