Can this sequel for Rayman Origins work on the Wii U?

What we know:

Rayman Legends is the next installment in Ubisoft's rebooted puzzle platformer series, serving as a sequel for the quite impressive Rayman Origins, which appeared back in 2011 and 2012 across multiple platforms, ranging from consoles like the PS3 or Xbox 360, to the PC, 3DS, or PS Vita.

Unlike its predecessor, Rayman Legends is going to be released exclusively for the new Nintendo Wii U home console.

According to Ubisoft, this is because the game is designed to take advantage of the Wii U's special features, specifically the unique GamePad controller that boasts, besides traditional buttons, a large touchscreen.

While Rayman Legends can be played as a classic puzzle platform in which players control either Rayman, Globox, the Teensies or a new character in the form of Barbara, Wii U owners can also take on the role of Murphy (aka Murfy).

The small frog floats around the level and can be controlled using the GamePad's touchscreen. He can tickle enemies and expose weak points, as well as interact with platforms and traps in order to help the other players complete their tasks.

Why it matters:

Rayman Origins delivered a great experience and, even if it didn't sell as well as it should have, it remains one of the most fun and colorful puzzle platformers of the current generation.

Rayman Legends is already looking set to overtake it through the addition of Murphy as well as new environments, enemies, and other such features.

A demo for it is already up on the Wii U eShop and all owners of the console should try it out and see that there are more quality platformers out there than just Nintendo's own Mario series.

Rayman Legends is out on February 26, in North America, and February 28, in Europe, exclusively for the Nintendo Wii U.
