What we know:
Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto franchise is one of the most popular video game brands in the world, with tens of millions of fans eagerly awaiting new installments of the open world action game.
We already saw a short trailer back in 2011 and throughout 2012 Rockstar begun sharing actual details about the game.
GTA V takes place in Los Santos, one of the main cities from GTA: San Andreas, and will feature not one but three different protagonists, in the form of Michael, a retired bank robber, Franklin, a young upcoming hustler, and Trevor, a worn down junkie that hangs out on the city's outskirts.
These three individuals will find themselves in an unlikely team up and they'll be pulling all sorts of impressive bank heists and store thefts while getting into all sorts of problems and adventures.
They'll also freely explore Los Santos, which consists not only of the city but also of its surrounding environments, from mountains and valleys to beaches and even an ocean with a fully-designed floor that can be navigated using a mini-submarine.
While the game was set to appear this spring, Rockstar was recently forced to push it back to September in order to make sure the game delivers a great experience.
Why it matters:Grand Theft Auto games have set the benchmark for open world games and sandbox experiences for quite some time so you can bet that with GTA V, Rockstar will once again show everyone who's the king of the open world.
With ambitious mechanics like the three protagonists that can be switched out at any time, GTA V is looking to be one of the most technologically advanced titles of this generation.
Grand Theft Auto V is out on September 17 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms.
