What we know:

Resident Evil 6 is set to be the latest game in the long running series developed by Capcom and the third Resident Evil title of the current year, after Revelations and Operation Raccoon City.

As opposed to the not so popular Resident Evil 5, this new one promises to deliver a better balance between the survival horror themes that made the original games in the series so popular and the more action-oriented gameplay that’s attracting more and more people.

We’ve already seen a pretty impressive trailer last month, with Capcom presenting a video filled with clues, gameplay and cinematic sequences.

As you have no doubt figured out, the game will have multiple protagonists, including Leon S. Kennedy, making a return from the critically acclaimed Resident Evil 4, Chris Redfield, coming back from 5, and a new character that’s seemingly very important to the story in the new title.

Resident Evil 6 also brings back classic zombies, according to Capcom, as new infections have started appearing in territories like the U.S. or China. As such, players will have to go on global adventures to stop the bio-terrorist attacks and save the world.

Besides the actual zombies and infected humans, plenty of other monsters are set to be unleashed, some even making quick appearances in the video, so players will be in for quite an experience in the final game.

Why it matters: While Resident Evil 4 is still loved by lots of gamers due to its sharp story and terrifying gameplay, Resident Evil 5, with its more action-oriented focus, sold way more copies. With Resident Evil 6, Capcom hopes to strike a balance between the two experiences and please both new and old fans of the series.

The premise of a global war against bio-terrorism is unheard of, at least in the franchise’s universe, which relied mostly on isolated adventures. As such, Capcom could take the story into new directions, thanks to the different protagonists.

Hopefully, the company will know to keep things simple, as Resident Evil games have always confused players with their complicated plots or cheesy characters.

Resident Evil 6 is set to be released for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on November 20.
