What we know:Crusader Kings II is developed in house and published by Paradox Interactive and represents yet another of their long running grand strategy series, which allows gamers to take control of a dynasty starting in 1066 and control their destiny until the later part of the Middle Ages.
For almost any other Paradox Interactive game the operational world would be country or nation but Crusader Kings is unique because it manages to focus on persons, kings, dukes, their ambitions and their wishes.
The game is much more personal than any other strategy out there and is perfect for creating stories (you can already visit the official Paradox Interactive forums in order to get some preview ones already) that often read like medieval power fantasies or like serial history themed novels.
Crusader Kings II uses a better graphics engine that almost manages to make the Europe of the early Middle Ages look appealing and there are more traits for characters and more ways for them to interact in interesting ways.
The combat has been completely redesigned, although no one should expect tactical engagements like those offered by Hearts of Iron III.
The team working on the game has also made sure to include a higher number of flavor events, making sure that players always have some small choices to ponder, while their bigger plans are being implemented.
What we’re hoping:Crusader King II is the biggest early year video game release for me and I only have to wait about one full month to get access to it, ready to play king and manage both my lands and my courtiers.
The game will expand on the variety of the first title and I hope that it will emphasize intrigue and diplomacy rather than focusing on economic conflict and armed battles.
