Playing the latest next-gen video games directly on the perfectly smooth, extra-large wall of one's home is the dream of quite a lot of gamers out there. And while some have managed to make that dream come true with some high-end projection system,
most can't afford such a luxury and this is the reason why the people over at InFocus have come up with the Play Big IN1 projector, a device designed especially to work with the most popular gaming consoles currently available on the market, namely the Wii, Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.
The IN1 is an all-in-one solution, combining projection, premium audio and all the inputs needed to plug in multiple gaming consoles and entertainment devices. The device features DLP technology by Texas Instruments for crisp, vivid images and a built-in amplifier with two-speaker stereo system, based upon high-performance car audio technology, for playing back the sound directly, without the need for an external audio system (although most hardcore gamers will most likely get themselves an extra audio system as well).
The projector delivers images in either 4:3, 16:9 aspect ratios, has a brightness level of 500 max ANSI lumens and 1500:1 contrast ratio and is compatible with a wide range of video formats, including here full NTSC, PAL, SECAM, 480i, 480p, 576i, 576p, 720p and 1080i. Furthermore, the device has a minimum image size of 3.33 ft (1.01 m), while the maximum image size is of 17.5 ft (5.33 m).
The device also comes packed with a few interesting accessories, namely a padded backpack for easy transport, gold-plated Wii component connectivity cable and a unique ceiling mirror that flips the image on the ceiling for an above-ground viewing experience. Furthermore, the projector from InFocus will be available solely via Woot for the time being and will retail for just 499 US dollars, which is quite an affordable price to pay for such a device, taking into account the features it can provide.
