Video game publisher Sony announces that its recently launched InFamous: Second Son has managed to sell more than 1 million units, when both physical copies and digital downloads are taken into account, in nine days, making it the fastest ever selling title in the franchise.

The performance is pretty solid, considering that the experience has only been launched on the PlayStation 4 next-gen console, which means that close to 1 out of 6 of those who own the hardware have also picked up the new InFamous.

The official announcement from Sony states, “A huge congratulations goes out to the team over at Sucker Punch for creating such a wonderful game, a true testament to their passion as developers and commitment to their fans, and a great big thanks to all of you who have picked up the game and have shown us how you enjoy your powers.”

The company also promises that more content linked to InFamous: Second Son will be launched in the near future, which suggests that single-player DLC is already under development at Sucker Punch, and encourages all players to try out the Paper Trail interactive story linked to the video game.

Sony has not yet offered an update on the overall sales numbers of the PlayStation 4.
