What do you know? Not only is the
PlayStation 2 far from dead, heading gloriously towards its eighth holiday season, but it's now getting an alternative to Wii Sports too. If there's a company that's "stealing"
Nintendo's ideas in the most obvious manner possible, that company is without a doubt In2Games. They're throwing in the motion-sensing plastic pool
cue, tennis racquet, golf club, steering wheel, bowling ball and the PuzzleSphere along with a bunch of games, for Sony's PS2.
In case you didn't know, this is the first time the PS2 is getting games played with motion-sensitive
peripherals and although it is a first for the platform, it certainly isn't a first for the video games market. So, care to know what In2Games' RealPlay games are?
RealPlay Racing introduces a wireless steering wheel, which controls the on-screen action for this fast and furious racer.
RealPlay Pool comes complete with a replica pool cue, with which players can apply swerve and spin before actually hitting each shot.
RealPlay Golf's wireless club tracks your swing to bring an on-course dimension into the game.
RealPlay PuzzleSphere comes with a unique 'sphere' which players manipulate in real life in order to guide an on-screen replica through heart-in-mouth rollercoaster courses.
"Innovative, enjoyable and affordable - that's the RealPlay range in three words, and we're delighted to have won the contract to handle UK distribution", says Peter Sleeman, MD, Pinnacle Software. Enjoyable yes. Affordable, maybe. Innovative... not really. Especially not with upcoming titles such as 'RealPlay Bowling' and 'RealPlay Tennis,' which, according to the official announcement, are two additional games, scheduled for release early in 2008.
The first titles in the RealPlay range will be released in the UK on November 30th 2007. Each game is priced at £34.99, and ships with its respective wireless motion-sensing controller. The games will be distributed throughout the UK by Pinnacle Software.
