Eric Zhang's Bubble Head Webcam concept

Webcams are ugly and scary. They're definitely ugly mechanical stuff that stare at you using that monstrous eye built in their forehead. Well, things are slowly starting to change.

The Bubble Head Web camera (or Egg-head) is Eric Zhang's solution to saving desktop and their owners from total boredom. The designer only hopes that some webcam manufacturers will embrace his concept instead of the usual bug-eyed webcams.

The two little professional scuba divers you see in the picture may look like pencil sharpeners, but they're actually awkwardly-designed webcams. Here are some details. The Bubble Head webcam comes with a built-in clock around the lens. Evidently, the guy can also flex their arms and muscles in order to hold a pencil or a tiny ancient papyrus. Its body contains a copper skeleton and it's covered in durable Thermoplastic Polyurethane. You can hang it on your screen, tell it to sit on your books (and bark too), or, put it on the ladder that comes along with it.

The product is probably targeted at the little ones, but I wouldn't be surprised if adults would rely on this human-shaped webcam to feel more comfortable around the "eye on the desk". It would be nice to see this webcam installed on the desks of the ladies that work for video chat "businesses". Hopefully, horny video chat subscribers will get to see what they paid for: smiles instead of sour faces (that too).

Too bad the Bubble Head didn't pass the prototype stage and it's no way near mass production. There are only a few prototypes that have been revealed on the designer's web page. The Superman Bubble Head is a must have gadget! Can we have this, please? Hello, Logitech? Anybody there?

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
