Chris Hemsworth, the handsome and physically imposing Australian who stars in Marvel’s Avengers superhero franchise as the God of Thunder Thor, wants you to know that he’s more than a pretty face and an equally pretty body.

He will hopefully do that with his latest effort, “In the Heart of the Sea,” the movie based on real events in which he faces the real Moby-Dick. A first trailer for it has been released, and as per usual, you will find it available in full and in HD below.

Truth be told now, if you’re a fan of Chris’ work, you already know that he can pull off a dramatic role like this one, with his part in “Rush” serving as solid evidence of that. However, despite the high quality of that film and his good performance in it, it didn’t sell all that well, so Chris is still to “happen” in Hollywood as the ultimate movie star.

“In the Heart of the Sea” promises to fix that. The film is based on the 2000 nonfiction book by Nathan Philbrick, which, in turn, detailed events that took place in 1820, when a sperm whale hit the Essex and sunk it, leaving its crew to swim for survival in the Pacific Ocean.

The film is directed by Ron Howard and stars, besides Chris, Benjamin Walker, Cillian Murphy, and Ben Whishaw. For the role, Chris went on a very restrictive diet and lost a lot of weight – all of which he had to put back on when he reprised his Thor role months later.

You really don’t find that dedication everywhere these days, even though more and more actors and actresses are willing to risk their health and go the extra mile.

So, check out the trailer and let me know in the comments section: will you give Chris a chance in a non-Thor movie? It will be out in 2015.
