Another EA trick

According to CGW, upon installing Battlefield 2142 you will be also installing some spyware. This information was released by CGW, who received a retail box copy of Battlefield 2142 and got a chance to test it.

When they opened the box, a big slip of paper fell out along with the discs and manuals. You wouldn't believe what that paper said. Read first and then decide if that is spyware or not. The paper allegedly said that some monitoring software will be installed on your computer, once you install Battlefield 2142.

This "monitoring" software will record information like your IP address, surfing habits, and other "computing habits" in order for the information to be sent back to advertising companies and servers that generate online ads.

Seems like EA, the games' developer, found another way to cash in from video games. Imagine the amount of money the publisher will get from advertising companies. If Battlefield 2142 is bad and no one will buy it, EA already insured its profit. Man, I wish I thought of that first!

Anyway, these spyware suspicions have stirred up things in the online gaming community, as many are posting on forums their disapproval and discontent towards EA's new marketing move. Many gamers also posted that they will not buy Battlefield 2142 because of this spyware suspicion.
