In Photoshop We TrustBelieve what you will, but that's not the real Britney |

Thanks to the almighty and ever-present paparazzi and their ceaseless work (not to mention the countless hours spent hounding and stalking celebs), we know by now that we're never to believe what we see in magazines. Celebrities are also humans (duh!) and therefore, their bodies are also subject to the little pesky little things that seem to make our lives unbearable at times: wrinkles, cellulite, stretch marks, a couple of extra pounds and features that we would change if only we could.
Fortunately for them, stars have very strong allies on their side, the kind we can't afford or we are too proud to put to use: Botox, plastic surgery and, first and foremost when it comes to photo shoots, the wonderful Photoshop. In fact, for many celebrities, and especially women, Photoshop is the next best thing and, at the same time, the only one that can help sell more records, tickets or whatever it is that they're promoting/endorsing at the time. It also helps them maintain that picture perfect image for the masses. Which is always a great thing.
However, every once in a while, comes a photo so airbrushed and fake that it barely resembles the original anymore. Case in point: Britney Spears' latest ad for her most recent fragrance, 'Believe'. I'm no expert at such things, nor do I pretend to be one, but I have eyes to see. Sure, I might be a bit short-sighted but, if I'm to get my magnifying glass, I can tell when a perfume company uses another woman's body, then superimposes Brit's head on it, retouches it a bit and then tries to fool us into believing that the result is actually Britney, plus a very good case of make-up and lighting. I might not be able to recognize my own mother from a ten feet distance, but this I see pretty clear...
Rumor about the latest perfume campaign had it that Elizabeth Arden, the producing company, decided not to use the actual Britney, but one of the stylists on the set. 'She looked amazing, but she left the shoot three times in a state of
distress before driving away for good. They had decent shots of her face, but not her body, so the art director made the stylist - a cute girl name Kylie Cavaco - get in Britney's clothes and pose. They are superimposing Britney's head on Kylie's body. Kylie has the body Brit used to have, not the one she has now.', PageSix wrote days before the poster even came out.
At the time, Arden refused to comment but, now that the ad is actually out, they would like to really make us 'Believe'. Or, they simply think we're complete morons who can't tell a fake from the real thing! 'We recently [this summer] shot Britney Spears for the print campaign for her new fragrance Britney Spears Believe, in Santa Monica. It is true that Britney did leave the set; however, she returned after a brief time. Cayli was the wardrobe assistant on the shoot. We used her as a stand in so that we could set up the lighting while Britney was off the set. When Britney returned, we shot the national print ad with her. The only person in the national print ad for Britney's Believe fragrance is Britney Spears.', their statement said.
So this is it: Believe what you will, because Britney certainly doesn't give a rat's a*s about what you think of her. Otherwise, she wouldn't have been a party to this. And, yes, this is just me, deluding myself into believing that she is still sane enough to formulate an entire thought...
