Apple retail employees have been briefed on a new initiative called iBooks Discovery, which prepares staffers for the imminent launch of iOS 7 and OS X Mavericks.
Mavericks is Apple’s new version of the Mac operating system. It’s the first to incorporate a dedicated e-book solution and storefront (iBookstore) via the new iBooks application.
Apple Retail staffers reportedly attended quarterly meetings this past weekend, during which the Cupertino giant’s management teams informed employees of a new iBooks Discovery effort to get iBooks for OS X off the ground.
Staffers are reportedly getting free iBooks in light of the upcoming Mavericks launch, which coincides with the iOS 7 debut. The purpose of the initiative is said to be to familiarize staff with iBooks, allowing them to promote this feature to customers walking in the store to buy a Mac.
Apple is set to release both iOS 7 and OS X Mavericks to the public this fall.
