Google ran a very festive, or at least musical, doodle for the winter holidays, over the weekend. In case you weren't around a computer for the past few days, you can check out a video of the Christmas doodle in action.
When it
first showed up, it wasn't animated, but the full version soon went online.
Clicking on the musical buttons below the logo in order started the entire song, a version of the well-known Jingle Bells. Google used native web technologies for both the music and the graphics, where possible.
Google hasn't posted a fully working, interactive version of the doodle, so the video will have to make do, for now.
"Working with our doodlers, we had the bright idea to string lights along the Google homepage (and, because we can, added some interactive features)," Google
wrote.
"Of course, instead of using nails and hopelessly tangled strings of lights, we used JavaScript, Closure, and HTML5 or Flash to play the music (depending on the browser)," it explained.
