Google is slowly but surely upgrading its search engine one feature at a time. Now it's time for the suggestion box, aptly named Google Suggest, to get an update with some nice features to improve its functionality; and make it a little snappier while they're at it. Google Suggests does what its name implies, meaning it suggests queries as you are typing in the search box.

The old Google Suggest, though useful, was pretty limited in terms of information, since it only listed a set of suggestions and the number of results for those suggestions. The new and improved Google Suggest, however, comes with a few modifications that should make quite a difference in the way it is used.

One change that the search giant made is that now suggestions are also available in the results page and, more interestingly, are based on your previous queries. This can be very useful in refining your search, making it easier to get the exact results you were looking for. Also helping you refine your searches is another feature, called personalized suggestions, which will help you remove from future searches suggestions that are not relevant to you. This way the next time you are looking for something similar you will get the suggestions that you found helpful the first time.

Moving on we get to navigational suggestions, which enables searches to have suggestions with direct link to sites that may be of interest to you and clicking on that link will send you straight to that site without having to wait for a result page first. Google will also have ads in the suggestion box if they are related to your query. All these new features, along with some other minor changes that are in the works, should make the suggestion box a much more powerful and helpful tool. Google says it will be rolling out the new features in a short while.
