A new expansion, more money required

Generally, PC users receive their expansions, patches and similar updates for free, while console users have to pay for what we know as DLC. Keeping in mind that consoles often sell what PC users get for free, it is clearly a gap somewhere and the fact that Kalypso Media has decided to try its luck and sell to PC owners a value pack for their game released in February - Imperium Romanum - comes as no shock.

Dubbed "Conquest of Britannia", the expansion is only available via download and it costs ?3.99 (about $8), which is even cheaper than the initial estimated price of ?4.99 (around $10). This expansion package focuses on the former Roman colony Britannia and it promises to detail the main game. This new campaign includes four brand new scenarios, like Londinium , Hadrians Wall oder Aquae Sulis, whereby each map is a reconstruction of an actual historical location. Additionally, new tablets and events will bring more variety into the gameplay, as well as some re-designed buildings.

The entire list of new missions is: Londinium (London) - The Heart of Britannia, Aquae Sulis (Bath) - The Sacred Spring, Eboracum (York) - Castrum Eboracum and The Completion of Hadrians Wall. Kalypso promises that it will bring some improved art and game design, plus extended speech - if that matters. The value pack can be purchased starting now on the official Imperium Romanum website, the "Downloads" category.

Imperium Romanum, first released this February and available for purchase at ?29.99 is a city-building simulation game with a few RTS elements. It looks really great and you might want to give it a try if you really are into this kind of games. However, it is up to you to deal with the pay-per-DLC on PC.
