Imation recently announced the launch of a new line of products as well as the new marketing and sales strategy that is expected to turn the Odyssey removable hard disk solution into a huge success. This new line of hard disk drives, which are built for businesses and home offices, provides users with a fast back up, restore and disaster recovery all in one solution that will become valued for its simplicity and reliability.

"The Odyssey system is ideal for a wide range of data storage environments and applications and offers notable benefits to small businesses, including ultra-fast speed, high capacity, immediate access to data and drag-and-drop file access," said Keith
Schwartz, director, North America sales and marketing, Imation. "We've made it easy for small offices and home offices to secure, protect, and access their data. And with today's announcements, we not only expand the breadth of our Odyssey system offerings, we also expand Imation's distribution reach with Marketlink Services, making it easier for users to purchase the Odyssey system."

From the Imation Odyssey line of products, there is now available the internal docking station that is designed to work with the newest storage cartridges and it is the heart of the newly launched system as it can work even with super large storage drives. Customers may choose from either an internal or an external USB powered docking station and the internal model is compatible with the popular 3.5 inch bay, thus freeing the other drive bays for optical devices or additional hard drives.

Especially designed to work with the new docking stations, the Odyssey removable hard disk cartridges are based on a notebook-like drive that uses the Serial ATA data transferring interface and they are available in storage capacities ranging from 40GB to160GB, while a larger 250GB 2.5 inch removable drive will also become available early next month and will come with a suggested retail price tag of $279.99. In order to provide users with advanced protection features, Imation created these storage devices to be rugged and ultra-reliable and they can withstand falls even from one meter high on hard surfaces while the incorporated anti-electrostatic discharge technology keeps them safe from electric damage.

"Imation's Odyssey solution is fast, secure and easy-to-use, making it an obvious choice for today's small businesses," said Dan Dempsey, president, Marketlink Services. "With a proven track record of accelerating growth, our experienced sales force is committed to helping Imation reach out to and establish new relationships with VARs and end users across the country."
