Imation Corp. will showcase its Solid State Disk (SSD) portfolio next week at the Interop Conference and Exhibition at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas. For its
SSD PRO 7000 powered by Mtron, the company, a worldwide leader in removable data storage, has been selected as finalist in the Best of Interop 2008 Awards. There will be a public demonstration, the first one for Imation's SSD products, and it will take place in booth 2257, April 28-May 1, 2008.

Thousands of products have been evaluated by a panel of award-winning editors and experts from InformationWeek magazine. The PRO 7000 has been selected by the experts as finalist in the Data Center and Storage category for the Best of Interop 2008 Awards. They are given to exhibitors who made significant technical impact on their market, and are helping the movement of business technology forward.

The Imation SSD PRO 7000 has been designed using industry-leading drive technology. It delivers the ideal solution for enterprise, corporate and IT infrastructure applications that face extreme performance needs. Improved efficiency is also provided by PRO 7000 through accelerating drive-intensive applications, which reduces overall power consumption and boosts lifetime reliability. PRO 7000 has been designed to stand up to the needs of even the most intensive data center applications. It features high read and write speeds, impressive IOPS performance and virtually no seek time.

The MOBI 3000 Series for high performance end users are also included in Imation's SSD portfolio. This solid state design weighs less than half compared to traditional hard drives, and the power consumptions is reduced as well. Although it may look only like a lightweight package, MOBI 3000 is rugged enough to fit into harsh environments. Imation SSDs are more reliable, faster, and more robust than traditional hard disk drives (HDDs), as they have no moving parts. They also offer highly improved durability and shock resistance, while heat and noise generation are considerably reduced.

"Many applications are well suited to take advantage of the high performance, reliability, and energy efficiency of SSDs," said Dr. Subodh Kulkarni, vice president, Global Commercial Business, R&D and Manufacturing, Imation Corp. "Interop Las Vegas provides an excellent venue to demonstrate how SSDs fit into a solid IT strategy, including enhancing the performance of Web servers, RAID storage arrays, high performance PC workstations, video surveillance and white box systems."

Interop brings together IT and top business as it is the leading global business technology event. Business leaders are given the opportunity to learn about practical solutions. This is the most comprehensive educational program available for the IT market. Interop Las Vegas will draw attendees with immediate purchasing needs. They will also require a comprehensive, integrated view of the technologies, tools and services in order to make smart purchasing decisions and ease deployment throughout their organizations.
