A new version of the well-known news service Google News is now available to some of the users but there is no official announcement yet. The new version is entirely based on images and shows a thumbnail of a headline while an introductory text is displayed in the right part of the screen. Once you move your mouse cursor over a picture, you'll be able to see a small part of the article along with related images for the subject. Also, the snippet shows the original author of the news just like the main version of the service.

This new flavor of Google News was discovered by blogger Ionut Alex who wrote that the service can be accessed through the graphical view of the service. However, it seems that it is not accessible for all languages of Google News as some of the users sustain they're not able to view it. Ionut Alex also provides this link that sends you straight to the new interface of Google News based on images.

In addition, there is also a text version of Google News that shows only the text of the articles without any image or thumbnail. This one is pretty unpleasant because it shows the text displayed as a list and it's quite difficult to view all the headlines from every category.

Google News is one of the most criticized products owned by the Mountain View company because numerous companies said that it is quite unfair as it receives praises for the content offered by other publishers. As you probably know, Google News receives information from approximately 4.500 sources it indexes on a single page and it displays them to the users organized on multiple categories. Moreover, Google was even sued by several Belgian publications because the product published news without authorization although it's a well-known fact that Google News places links to the original author of the articles.
