The feature that all Web designers have asked for from Adobe is finally here with the upcoming Adobe Photoshop CC 2015 release: Artboards.

In a Periscope live stream and via a YouTube video, Adobe gave a quick preview of how this new tool will work in Photoshop, and how you could use it to integrate it into your daily routine.

Artboards were present in Adobe Illustrator starting with version CS4 released in 2008 and were considered a huge success, contributing to a simplified workflow which allowed users to create multiple versions of the same design inside the same document, without duplicating either layers or the document itself.

Photoshop is not what it once used to be

While at one point Photoshop was synonymous with Web design and most professionals would create their websites and app mockups in Adobe's flagship product, nowadays most users look at it in scowl.

With problems when it comes to pixel-precision alignments, rounded corners, vector shape handling, lackadaisical control for gradients, no align functions, and improper scaling, Photoshop was slowly exposed by the community as an inferior tool.

Don't get a wrong opinion. It's the best software for photo editing, but only a mediocre tool for app design. So low rated that even Fireworks, one of Adobe's discontinued products, has a more favorable image amongst Web designers compared to Photoshop.

Artboards in Photoshop may be a turning point in Adobe's approach to web design

The new Artboards addition clearly targets the Web and app creators, a market where Adobe has been bleeding users to newer apps like Sketch, which comes with dedicated tools that fit their daily workflow.

We hope this won't be just a random feature the company decided to clone from one software to another, and a general strategy for catering to the Web design community is in place, which would also include some fixes to many problems the userbase has reported in the past via Adobe's forums.

Here's a quick preview how Artboards will work in Photoshop:
