When it comes to monitors, there aren't many things that stand out these days, because pretty much every asset has been optimized in some fashion. There are still surprises occasionally though, like the Iiyama ProLite X(B)83 series. The new LCD monitors from Iiyama are called ProLite X24/2783HSU and XB24/2783HSU. Their main asset is the latest high quality AMVA+ panel technology.

AMVA+ is a technology that gives Iiyama displays a much higher contrast ratio than normal.

Usually, monitors have 1000:1 ratio (the dynamic contrast ratio doesn't matter much, even if it's in the range of millions:1), but the new models from Iiyama have panels with 3000:1.

That means that the on-screen view is comfortable to view and quite detailed, even during dark scenes.

The true 8-bit color panel (per sub pixel) with sRGB color coverage is another reason behind the good image quality. That is why Photography, Graphic and Web design are good markets for the Iiyama displays, although gaming won't suffer, especially with the 4 ms response time.

No wonder Iiyama decided on a rather professional appearance when it put together the products.

Moreover, the AMVA+ technology also ensures wide viewing angles (178 degrees horizontal and vertical), much like IPS does.

Anyway, the ProLite X24/2783HSU and XB24/2783HSU only differ in one way: the latter have height and pivot adjustment, while the former don't.

As the names imply, they both come in 24 and 27 inches, resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (1.2 megapixels), DCR of 5,000,000:1, three video inputs (HDMI, VGA, DVI), 16.7 million colors (24-bit), two USB ports, the aforementioned response time of 4 ms, VESA mount support and audio outputs (speakers, headphone jack).

Sales should already be underway in Europe, or they soon will be. The warranty will be of 3 years (“on-site” Advance Exchange Warranty). Sadly, the price hasn't been mentioned anywhere so far.
